Argent, 9 fleur-de-lis,
3.2.3.1, azure, a bordure, engrailed, gules.
is recorded by G.R. Poulson
in his book 'History of Holderness' (Volume 2) published in 1841. By way of authentication,
Mr. Poulson cites a manuscript held, at that time, by Mr. Beckwith of York and also refers to other
documents held in the Burton Constable Library. Efforts to locate these documents have so far
proved unsuccessful. It is believed that those documents mentioned were disposed of during
extensive sales of manuscripts from the library in 1889.
